Presentation of the national and regional planning for the sustainable tourism development in Greece in general and in Attica in particular. Networking between authorities and partner, involving decision makers, such as political actors at national and regional level, students’ awareness and dissemination of the project results were achieved through this event.

On 12th of November 2019, EGTC Efxini Poli organised a Conference, entitled “Sustainability & Tourism”, which was held at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in  Athens (SNFCC). The national and regional authorities, related to tourism, presented respectively the national and regional planning for the sustainable tourism development in Greece in general and in Attica in particular. Therefore, the Deputy Minister of Tourism Manos Konsolas, the President of the Greek National Tourism Organization Angela Gerekou, the Executive Tourism Councilor of the Attica Region Theothoros Koutsogiannopoulos, the Mayor of  Varis Voulas, Vouliagmenis  and new President of Efxini Poli Grigoris Constantellos were invited and shared with the participants their strategy and experience.

The Conference impact was also empowered as a result of academics and tourism experts presentations. They talked about Sustainability in Tourism, the contribution of greek gastronomy and local products to highlight destinations as well as Experiential Marketing and marketing strategies widely used by the project as storytelling and SOLOMO.

The attendees were particularly interested in the presentation of Consumeless project, its objectives and its pilot implementation in the Municipality of Naxos and its reached results in other tourist areas in Greece. Furthermore, experts, representing important ecological organizations focused on issues, such as: The wealth of the Greek seas and its interaction with the tourism industry, Water resources and tourism development, Sustainable Tourism and Quality Ecological Labels - Green Key and Blue Flag, No Waste in the Seas and Coastal areas, Environment and Resources.
